Sound Breathing

Sound Breathing explores the state before sound fully emerges—when vibration exists as movement, frequency, and spatial tension, yet has not formed into a distinct auditory presence. The installation consists of twelve illuminated circular rings, each governed by carefully designed motion parameters. As they oscillate within space, their movements generate subtle rhythmic relationships—independent yet interconnected. Suspended beneath each motor is a wind chime that produces sound only when struck by the motion itself. These tones are not composed or triggered intentionally; rather, they arise incidentally as acoustic traces of movement. In this work, sound is not presented as a primary event, but as a residual phenomenon—an echo of kinetic activity. Light, motion, and intermittent tones together create a condition suspended between stillness and articulation, as if sound remains in a state of breathing, not yet fully released. For viewers, the installation does not offer a structured musical experience, but a perceptual atmosphere. The shifting rhythms of light and movement evoke the presence of a living system—one that appears to pulse, hover, and sustain itself in a continuous state of becoming.
